La Mamounia, a luxury hotel in Marrakesh, was originally an 18th-century palace built by Sultan Mohammed Ben Abdallah for his son, Prince Moulay Mamoun. The hotel, named in the prince’s honor, features 13-hectare gardens that historically hosted lavish events. Transformed into a hotel in 1923 by French architects Henri Prost and Antoine Marchisio, it blends Moroccan design with Art Deco elements, symbolizing luxury while preserving traditional architecture and hospitality.

The hotel’s intricate woodwork, crafted by us from cedarwood included the monumental main entrance door, all intricately carved and painted ceilings in suites and rooms, and wood-carved ceilings and friezes in every corridor across all floors. Our artisans crafted detailed woodwork for the entire hotel’s staircases, the Moroccan restaurant, and the grand entrance cupola. Additionally, we completed the carved ceilings and friezes in the grand lobby, ceilings in the business center, and various outdoor areas featuring traditional woodwork and zouak designs. Each piece reflects the rich artistry and elegance that define this iconic hotel.

Our skilled Moroccan artisans, or “maalems,” contributed to both renovations in the 2000s and and the recent renovations in 2020s, preserving the original craftsmanship while enhancing contemporary elegance.

The iconic Mamounia Hotel, recognized as the #1 Best Hotel in the World for several consecutive years, stands as a testament to unparalleled luxury and timeless excellence.
