The Woodwork of the Great Hassan II Mosque
Jump to section titled: The Woodwork of the Great Hassan II MosqueThe Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, one of the world’s largest, showcases Morocco’s architectural grandeur and artistic heritage. Commissioned by King Hassan II and designed by French architect Michel Pinseau, it was completed in 1993.
We contributed with intricate cedar wood carvings, painted ceilings, a retractable roof, monumental doors, and over 20 decorative cupolas. Spanning 53,000 m², this masterpiece integrates traditional Moroccan craftsmanship with modern engineering, celebrating the country’s rich cultural legacy.
The project began with a shared vision to create a space that reflects the spiritual and cultural essence of Morocco. Collaborating closely with architects, designers, and fellow artisans, we aimed to harmonize the mosque's structural integrity with the beauty of traditional woodcraft.
Our deep understanding of Islamic design principles guided us in creating handcrafted elements that resonate with the mosque's overall aesthetic.
